Title:
Cinder
(The Lunar Chronicles #1)

Author:
Marissa Meyer

★★☆☆
3.5 out of 5 stars

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

I liked this book, but I didn't like like it. Even though it was an original retell of Cinderella which I was really excited about (I mean, cyborgs you guys!!) it was both interesting and boring at the same time.

The whole idea of having this android/advanced technology filled world with people living on the moon, a cyborg heroine and an evil queen wanting it all for herself sounds pretty awesome and rich, but the book ends up being superficial and so very obvious

Probably my main issue with Cinder is that even though you have all this awesomeness waiting to happen, it all goes so slowly that when it actually does happen you just didn't care anymore.
